A Sunset Boat Trip to Lover’s Beach in Cabo San Lucas
There are some experiences that instantly make you understand why people fall in love with Cabo San Lucas, and our afternoon boat trip to Lover’s Beach and the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas was one of them.
We booked our excursion online for less than $100, making this one of the more affordable experiences of our Cabo trip. Our adventure began at the marina near Lote A-18 De la Dársena, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 23450. We purposely chose one of the later departures because we wanted to spend the afternoon on the water and experience Cabo as the sun began to set.
Setting Sail Through Cabo
Once we boarded, the trip became about so much more than simply getting from the marina to the beach. We sailed along the coastline and were able to see different parts of Cabo San Lucas from the water while learning more about the area.
The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Between the brilliant blue water, rocky coastline and boats passing around us, there was always something to photograph.
And, of course, I dressed for the occasion.
I have always had a fascination with cheetah and leopard prints, so Cabo seemed like the perfect place to bring out one of my favorite animal-print looks. I chose a cheetah-print swimsuit with a coordinating beach cover-up that could easily transition from relaxing on the boat to getting off at the beach.
I knew we would have an opportunity to swim, so wearing something beautiful that was still practical for the water was important.
Seeing the Famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas
Then came one of my favorite moments of the entire excursion: approaching Cabo's dramatic rock formations.
Seeing the Arch from the water is completely different from simply seeing it in photographs. The massive rock formations rising from the ocean make an incredible backdrop, and our boat slowed down enough for us to enjoy the scenery and take plenty of pictures.
This was definitely one of those “I’m really in Cabo!” moments.
We also learned about the landmarks and history surrounding this part of the Baja California peninsula as we explored. It added another dimension to the excursion because we weren't simply taking beautiful pictures—we were learning about the destination we had traveled to see.
An Hour at the Beach
One of the biggest reasons I recommend this particular type of excursion is that we weren't stuck on the boat for the entire trip.
We were able to get off and spend about an hour on the beach.
After sightseeing and taking photos, being able to step onto the sand, get into the ocean and simply enjoy Cabo was the perfect change of pace. This is also where having my swimsuit and cover-up made perfect sense—I was already dressed to go from sightseeing straight into the water.
There was no need for an overly complicated outfit or itinerary. Sometimes the best vacation days really are that simple: sunshine, ocean water, a swimsuit you love and somewhere beautiful to explore.
Was the Cabo Boat Trip Worth It?
Absolutely.
For under $100, we were able to cruise along the Cabo coastline, see some of its most recognizable landmarks, learn a little about the area, take beautiful photographs, spend time on the beach and experience the beginning of sunset from the water.
If you're planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas, I highly recommend adding a boat excursion to Lover's Beach and the Arch to your itinerary. If your schedule allows, consider a later afternoon departure. The changing light toward sunset made an already beautiful experience feel even more special.
For me, this was exactly what travel should feel like—exploring somewhere new, learning something about the destination, dressing up a little, getting in the water and creating memories along the way.
