Pueblo Bonito Rosé Cabo San Lucas: My Day Trip From Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach

One thing I learned while staying in Cabo San Lucas is that your resort doesn't have to be your entire vacation.

During my Cabo trip, I stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort, but I wanted to experience another side of Cabo without checking into a second hotel. That's what led me to spend the day at Pueblo Bonito Rosé Resort & Spa.

And the two properties gave me noticeably different experiences.

Rosé is the instantly recognizable pink Pueblo Bonito property located on Médano Beach, much closer to the marina, shopping, restaurants and activity of central Cabo San Lucas. The resort describes its design as Greco-Roman/Mediterranean-inspired, with pink architecture, marble statues and gardens.

This guide covers what my day trip was like, what I would bring, who I think would appreciate this location, and what you should know if you're considering staying at Rosé—or visiting while staying at another Pueblo Bonito property.

Spending the day at Pueblo Bonito Rosé during my Cabo San Lucas trip.

Why I Visited Pueblo Bonito Rosé

I was already staying at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, so this wasn't another hotel stay for me.

It was a day trip.

That distinction matters because I wasn't looking at Rosé from the perspective of someone reviewing the guestrooms. I wanted to know: What can I experience by getting away from my home resort for a day?

Pueblo Bonito operates multiple properties in Cabo, and its current guest information confirms that complimentary shuttle service connects Rosé with sister resorts in Cabo San Lucas. Shuttle seats are subject to availability and are for Pueblo Bonito guests, so this is something I would arrange ahead of time rather than leaving until the last minute.

TRAVEL TIP: If you're staying within the Pueblo Bonito family of resorts, check your guest benefits and transportation options before paying for additional transportation or assuming you have to remain at one property.

My First Impression of Pueblo Bonito Rosé

The first thing that stood out to me was the color.

If you've seen my photos, you already know why.

The pink architecture gives this property an entirely different visual identity from Sunset Beach. I hadn't extensively reviewed Rosé beforehand, which made arriving and seeing the property in person part of the experience.

It was also an opportunity to see more of Cabo while traveling between properties instead of spending every day inside the same resort.

Once I arrived, I found plenty of places that made me want to stop, look around and—of course—take photos.

The Pool & Beach Experience

This is one of the biggest differences travelers should understand when deciding where they want to spend their Cabo vacation.

Pueblo Bonito Rosé sits directly on Médano Beach, which the resort identifies as a swimmable beach. That's important in Los Cabos because you should never assume every beautiful beach you see is appropriate for swimming. Ocean conditions still vary, so always follow the posted flags and local instructions on the day you're there.

The property also has a large free-form pool, including shallow areas, plus beach seating with food and beverage service.

For me, having the pool, beach and resort environment together made Rosé work particularly well as a relaxing day-trip destination.

Jessica's Tip: Don't spend your entire visit trying to create content. Get your photos early, then put the camera down for a while and actually enjoy the property.

What to Bring for a Pueblo Bonito Rosé Day Trip

You don't need to carry your entire hotel room with you. I would pack a small resort/beach bag with the things you're actually likely to use.

My day-trip must-haves: swimsuit, lightweight cover-up, sunglasses, wide-brim hat, sunscreen, sandals, phone/camera, portable charger, small amount of cash plus a card, reusable water bottle, lip balm, waterproof pouch for valuables, and any Pueblo Bonito guest information or shuttle confirmation you need.

If you're creating travel content like I was, add a compact tripod or phone stand—but don't make your bag so heavy that you're carrying equipment around all day.

Who Should Consider Staying at Pueblo Bonito Rosé?

Based on the location and what I experienced during my visit, I'd put Rosé on your research list if you want resort amenities without feeling completely removed from Cabo San Lucas.

The resort is on Médano Beach near the marina, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. It is also family-friendly, with children's activities, a kids' club and shallow pool areas. Every suite currently includes a kitchenette, according to Pueblo Bonito.

That combination could be particularly relevant for travelers researching:

Couples who want beach and resort time while remaining near Cabo activity; families who value kitchenettes, children's facilities and a swimmable beach; friends' trips where some people want resort relaxation and others want to explore town; and first-time Cabo visitors who want a location near many of the attractions they've probably already seen while researching Cabo.

I would also look closely at Rosé if swimmable beach access is high on your priority list.

Who Might Prefer Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach?

This is where staying at Sunset Beach and visiting Rosé became especially useful for me.

I got to experience two different sides of the Pueblo Bonito Cabo experience instead of assuming all of the properties felt the same.

If you're deciding between them, don't simply ask, "Which resort is better?"

Ask:

What kind of Cabo vacation am I trying to have?

Do you want to be closer to Médano Beach, the marina and central Cabo activity? Rosé deserves a closer look.

Do you want the experience and setting offered by Sunset Beach but still want to explore other properties? Staying there and planning a Rosé day trip gave me a way to experience both.

That's ultimately what I did.

My home resort versus my Pueblo Bonito Rosé day trip.

When Should You Visit Cabo?

This is something I wish more travel content addressed honestly.

I traveled in early August, which is during Cabo's hotter season and within the broader eastern Pacific hurricane season. I experienced both beautiful resort weather and stormy conditions during my Cabo trip.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't travel during that period. It means you should understand what you're booking.

If you're considering summer travel because you find an attractive deal, check the forecast as your trip approaches, understand cancellation/change policies, consider appropriate travel insurance, and don't assume every day will look like someone's perfectly edited Instagram Reel.

I would choose your travel dates based on your priorities—not simply which month looks prettiest on social media.

Day-Trip Advice I Would Give Another Traveler

My biggest recommendation is simple:

Don't assume staying at a resort means you need to stay there every day.

Research what your hotel gives you access to.

In my case, exploring another Pueblo Bonito property gave me another experience without changing hotels.

For Pueblo Bonito guests specifically, shuttle reservations are currently subject to availability. The company's FAQ says guests should reserve their departure and return and save the reservation to their phone wallet because it is needed for boarding.

I would therefore:

Reserve transportation early, take screenshots of confirmations in case your connection is unreliable, leave enough time to enjoy the property rather than rushing back, and confirm your specific resort/access privileges before assuming meals or other benefits transfer between properties.

That last point is important because access and all-inclusive privileges can depend on the property and plan you've booked.

What Else Is at Pueblo Bonito Rosé?

If you're considering an actual stay rather than just a visit, there's more here than what I could experience during one day.

The resort currently lists direct Médano Beach access, a large pool, children's pool, fitness center, tennis, three restaurants/bars and Armonia Spa among its amenities.

Rosé's location also puts travelers near the marina, shopping, restaurants and nightlife rather than requiring every meal and activity to happen inside the resort.

Should You Book Pueblo Bonito Rosé?

Instead of giving every traveler the same answer, I would decide based on how you actually want to spend your Cabo vacation.

If your priorities include a swimmable beach, a large resort pool, a distinctive property for photos, proximity to central Cabo and the option to explore other Pueblo Bonito properties, Rosé has several features worth comparing against your other choices.

If you're already staying at another Pueblo Bonito property—as I was—then I'd investigate whether a Rosé day trip can give you the experience you're looking for without changing hotels.

That was the beauty of this day for me.

I didn't need to pack another suitcase.

I just got to experience another part of Cabo.
